I download the x64 trial version of Windows Vista, I burned the file to a DVD but I can't find a program to open the Mirosoft Windows Vista setup so that I can install it on my computer. How do I open the ISO file?
Thanks, Terry

Cannot Install Microsoft Windows Vista!!!
Do not unzip the file, burn it to a disk, since it is a ISO, there should be an option in your Burning utility for burning images to a CD.
Check the following link for instructions about how to burn an ISO: http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

I tried the program you recommended but it said that the file was in a DVD format and this version did not support it. I have sonic and nero will those programs work? Most likely what you did was burn a "Data DVD." All that did was make a copy of the file you downloaded, which is great if you wanted a backup or a coaster. What you need to do is open Nero SmartStart, go to the top dropdown window and select DVD, then go to "Copy and Backup" (second from the right) and then select "Burn Image To Disc."

You will simply boot with it.

I'm thinking if a person has this much trouble making a DVD out of an .iso. They shouldn't be messing with beta test operating systems.
I created an image disk of Microsoft Windows Vista and now the one big file is split up into little files. I clicked setup.exe but it said "E:|setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". What should I do to open the setup?
Thanks, Terry

You can't run setup for 64bit Vista from within XP. You would need to boot from the DVD.

Vista Beta 2 is a 64-bit operating system. You cannot install it from inside XP x86, a 32-bit operating system.
Before you go any further, please keep in mind that Vista Beta is not stable and should not be installed on a computer that you intend to actually use. For somebody who is as unfamiliar with basic things like .iso files, you may be overwhelmed by the upcoming situations if you intend to actually use this beta as your primary source computer. Beta releases primarily are for people to test the software and find the problems, because it does have many problems. Some people find this fun and challenging. You may or may not.
Because this is a 64-bit operating system, it is likely that most of your peripherals (mouse, modem, ethernet, printer, etc...) may not work correctly. Also, many older software programs that were written with 16-bit installation sequences will not work. Ever.
If you still want to install this operating system, I stongly urge you to purchase a program from Norton (Symantec) called PartitionMagic 8.0. This will help you to create a partition (virtual) hard-drive. Make this new one at least 25 GB. If you do not install to a new partition you will lose your current operating system and any files too. And you will never get them back. Ever.
Then pop in the DVD you just made and turn the computer off, and then on again. The installer will ask you where it should install and you then tell it to install on your new partition.
Search around on the forum and read a few horror stories, and also some more indepth instructions for creating a partition and installing a new operating system to a new partition. This is commonly called a dual-boot system (although there are some pirates out there with duel-boot systems... sorry, ninja joke), because when you try to actual use Vista and nothing works and then your screen locks up, you can still boot into your other OS and everything will be good again.
SERENITY NOW!

Ah, the guy is at least capable of reading instructions and following them, unlike the majority. Give him a break and let him learn the way we did. I reformatted the same computer nine times in one day with Win 95 Beta 1.

Vista beta 2 is in both 32 and 64 bit editions. Setup for x86 can be launched from a 32 bit XP desktop. Setup for x64 or x86 can be launched from 64 bit XP desktop. That's how I installed both editions of Vista on my XP Pro x64 machine.

Colin, I love you like a brother, but if you actually read this guy's myriad of posts, he has downloaded x64 B2.
